iPhone X with dbrand Grip and Bamboo skin

A look at my iPhone X kitted out with the dbrand Grip case and their bamboo skin. Some quick product shots and thoughts on the combo.

I've always been a bit particular about how my phones look and feel. The iPhone X is a beautiful device on its own, but adding the right case and skin combo takes it to another level.

The dbrand Grip Case

The Grip is dbrand's answer to the "why are all good cases ugly and all ugly cases protective" problem. It's a dual-layer case with a soft micro-texture interior and a matte exterior that genuinely lives up to its name — the grip on this thing is excellent.

It's not too bulky, not too slim. The button covers are clicky and responsive, and the raised lip around the camera module and screen gives me confidence that a drop on concrete won't be catastrophic.

The Matte Finish

The matte texture is the star of the show. It doesn't attract fingerprints, feels premium in the hand, and gives the phone a more understated look than the glossy glass back that Apple ships. If you hate smudges, this is your case.

The Bamboo Skin

Under the Grip, I went with dbrand's bamboo skin. Real bamboo veneer applied to the glass back of the iPhone X, giving it a natural wood grain texture that looks and feels completely different from stock.

The application process was straightforward — line it up, press it down, and you're set. dbrand's skins are precision-cut to fit perfectly around the camera bump and edges. The bamboo adds warmth to the phone's aesthetic that you just can't get from any other material.

Why Bamboo?

Why not? It's different from the standard carbon fibre or matte black options everyone else runs. The wood grain gives each skin a slightly unique look, and it pairs well with the natural tone of the Grip case. It's a subtle touch that makes the phone feel more personal.

The Combo

Together, the Grip case and bamboo skin make the iPhone X feel like a completely different device. It's more secure in the hand, more personal in appearance, and more protected than going naked. If you're going to cover up Apple's design, this is the way to do it.
